More than 200 swimmers, including athletes from Belarus, Spain, Brazil, South Africa and Canada, took part in the two-day event held at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge, where some of Britain’s top disability swimmers represented their regions as they continued with their Beijing preparations.

23 year old Minns, who has recently increased his training to four sessions in the pool and two in the gym, was in tremendous form during the championships and recorded a 19 second personal best time on his way to bronze, swimming for the South West in the S8 category. He also secured personal bests in the 50m, 100m & 400m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 50m & 100m backstroke.

Dolphin ASA coach, Steve Cryer, said that “Allan’s success was testament to his hard work and  he is now on course for London 2012”.
